Power Battery Recycling Difficulties Explained

In the current market, there are more and more used power batteries, but the power battery recycling market is still developing slowly, the formation of such a situation is not empty wind, which contains a variety of reasons, mainly in the following areas:


1, the technical threshold limit


No one can decide the power battery recycling. For power battery recycling, there are two methods, one is the use of gradient, the other is disassembly and recycling. From a technical point of view, both methods have a certain technical threshold.

2. Inconsistent standards for battery types


Stepwise use refers to the retesting and screening of recovered batteries and their grouping for energy storage, low-speed electric vehicles and other areas where battery performance is less important. According to industry standards, power battery recycling power batteries have been reduced to around 80% capacity until retirement time and, although no longer suitable for use in vehicles, there is still plenty of scope for using waste heat in other ways. However, when these batteries are reused, the electrochemical performance of the batteries and the decay of the battery life are tested and batteries with similar data are selected for assembly to ensure consistency and the safety of the entire battery system.


However, for a long time, unified standards have not been produced for power batteries for new energy vehicles, resulting in a wide range of power batteries, such as lead-acid batteries, then nickel-cadmium batteries, nickel-metal hydride rechargeable batteries and now ternary lithium batteries. How to unify these standards, the different technical applications and structural features, and the unification of battery classification are not a simple matter.


3. Difficulties of internal structure


Power car batteries with a capacity significantly lower than 40% will enter the dismantling and recycling management chain. In theory, the analysis of valuable metal structure elements such as nickel, cobalt, manganese and lithium salts can be dismantled from retired power battery recycling and can be effectively used in the manufacture of new batteries through recycling.


Similar to echelon use, dismantling and recycling has to deal with different brands and types of batteries.
