The average service life of a power battery is 5-8 years, and its performance decays with the increase of charging times. When the battery capacity decays to less than 80% of the rated capacity, the power battery is no longer suitable for electric vehicles. However, after testing, maintenance and restructuring, the retired batteries can still be further utilised in many fields such as energy storage, distributed photovoltaic power generation, household electricity and low-speed electric vehicles. When the batteries cannot be used for secondary use, they need to be recycled and dismantled to do resourceful treatment.
There are currently two mainstream technical routes for recycling power lithium materials, dry metallurgy and wet metallurgy. At present, the use of wet metallurgy technology route, has achieved the scale of consumer lithium battery recycling to extract cobalt and nickel and other metals, once the power battery recycling end can be on the volume, to achieve the recycling of power lithium batteries without too many technical obstacles.
