Along with the rapid development of the new energy vehicle market, the recycling and utilization of retired power batteries has been the focus of attention both inside and outside the industry. In March this year, "Power Battery Recycling" was listed in the "Guangdong Province 2022 Key Construction Projects Plan" released by the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission.
The project is located in the Zhuxi New Material Cluster in Xinhui District, Jiangmen City, with a total investment of RMB 3 billion and an expected annual comprehensive utilization The total investment is RMB 3 billion, and the annual comprehensive utilization capacity is expected to reach 200,000 tons.
In addition to being selected as a key construction project in the province, the project will effectively enhance the comprehensive utilization of retired power battery packs for new energy vehicles and the efficiency of waste conversion and regeneration within the Greater Bay Area, and is also of strategic significance to alleviate the pressure on the ecological environment.
Segmentation of the track Cumulative decommissioning of one million tonnes after 3 years
A data from the China Automotive Technology Research Center shows that the cumulative amount of retired power batteries in China will be about 200,000 tons in 2020, and will grow year by year, and the cumulative amount of retired batteries is expected to reach 1 million tons in 2025. The massive amount of new energy vehicle power battery recycling is also gradually breeding a new track.
In the view of Zheng Weipeng, founder and chairman of Jie Cheng New Energy, as the national strategic plan for the development of new energy power batteries continues to be clear, it is imperative to realize the recycling and comprehensive utilization of related resources. In February 2018, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and other seven ministries and commissions jointly issued the Interim Measures for the Management of Power Battery Recycling in New Energy Vehicles, which further proposed The Interim Measures for the Management of New Energy Vehicle Power Battery Recycling, jointly issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and other seven ministries and commissions, further proposed to "carry out pilot recycling of new energy vehicle power batteries", establish and improve the standard system for the resource utilization of used power batteries and promote the graded utilization and comprehensive utilization of used power batteries.
As a national high-tech enterprise specializing in the comprehensive utilization of retired power batteries of new energy vehicles and a green recycling enterprise of lithium battery raw materials, Jie Cheng New Energy plans to invest a total of RMB 3 billion (land purchase, production equipment order, park construction, technology research and development, etc.) to build a comprehensive utilization project of retired power batteries of new energy vehicles.
It is understood that the total planning site of the project is 300 mu, mainly producing cobalt sulfate, nickel sulfate, manganese sulfate, lithium carbonate, precursors and other new materials for lithium batteries. The first phase of the project has a total construction area of more than 60,000 square metres, including a 10,000 square metre research and development building, a secondary utilisation line, a dismantling line, a wet chemical smelting line, as well as advanced independent research and development equipment and workshops such as a tank area, a dismantling workshop, a reduction roasting workshop, a leaching and purification workshop, an extraction workshop, a lithium salt recovery workshop and an auxiliary workshop line. It is reported that in January this year, the first phase of 78 mu of project land was successfully listed, and has successively completed the filing of projects, land use planning permits, national security certificates, real estate certificates for processing, the plot of land levelling work has been completed. The project will soon obtain a construction permit and enter into a full-scale construction phase, with construction to be completed within the year.
When the project reaches production, it is expected that the annual scale of handling retired power battery packs for new energy vehicles will reach 200,000 tonnes, with an output value of over RMB 4 billion, which will effectively solve the employment problem of the local population in Jiangmen. In addition, the project will not only effectively enhance the efficiency of solid waste conversion into renewable resources within the Greater Bay Area, but also the recycling of retired new energy vehicle power batteries, which is also of strategic importance to alleviate the pressure on the ecological environment.

Through top-level design, Jie Cheng New Energy has completed the layout of the whole industrial chain of lithium recycling with Shenzhen headquarters as the centre and Huizhou and Jiangmen as the industrial bases by matching technology with resources and capital with industry.
